Frequently asked questions
Do you make custom made pieces?
Yes! I love a bespoke creation. Please see the 'bridal and bespoke' tab for more information.
What do you charge?
For standard and bespoke jobs, I charge by the hour. I am more than happy to provide a no strings attached estimate upon request, but estimates are subject to change depending on the ultimate difficultly of the job and how that equates to hours spent. I try my best to be accurate and transparent with my estimates and subsequent invoices, because I know there is nothing worse than signing up for a service and being surprised by the final bill.
For bridal alterations, I have a tier system as outlined in the 'bridal and bespoke' tab.
What is your turn around?
Generally, due to demand, for standard alterations I prefer at least 3 weeks, and for bridal and bespoke pieces, 8 weeks. I understand that this may be longer than is sometimes expected, but I have always been a perfectionist by nature, and carry out all alterations and bespoke pieces the technically correct way rather than the easiest. I believe this provides the best and most polished outcome.
Please keep in mind that my books tend to fill up months in advance in summer, when the bulk of formal events occur, but reach out if you're in a pinch and I'll always do my best to squeeze you in.
Do you require a deposit?
For bespoke pieces I take a $100 deposit, deductible from your total, for the purchase of materials and supplies. For alterations I provide a final invoice, no deposit necessary.
What should I bring to my fitting?
Please bring any undergarments you plan on wearing, as well as shoes of the same height as the pair you intend to wear with your garment.
Do you work with menswear/ children’s clothing/ jeans?
Yes! My formal qualifications provided a very well rounded education in all facets of construction, including the tailoring of menswear. Essentially, I will have a go at anything you may need.
Please reach out with any other questions and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
